About Posh Pets

Posh Pets Rescue is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit animal protection organization located in New York City. We are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of homeless animals, specializing primarily in dogs and cats, many of whom are rescued at the very last moment from euthanasia at the city shelters. We provide safe haven to all those who find their way to us through whatever circumstance, whether abandoned, injured or neglected. No matter the breed, health or age, we believe that all should live secure, healthy lives and we work tirelessly in our attempts to find the right homes with people who will love their pets for a lifetime. The irony behind our name is that the animals arrive to us under anything but posh circumstances. Our goal is to rehabilitate them and find posh arrangements for them. Animals are never turned away due to severe abuse or neglect. The Director of Posh Pets Rescue, Linda Vetrano, began her work by walking rescued dogs for other organizations. She soon came to realize that there was a need to rescue more and more dogs and she decided the time was right to formalize her grass roots efforts and in 2005 Posh Pets began by rescuing one 10 year old Chihuahua and placing it in a foster home until adopted. Many more dogs were rescued while waiting for the formal approval of the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status. Linda is personally involved in every rescue and every adoption.
